The sun zooms around the center of the galaxy (see arrow on the racetrack in image for the direction in 2015). The earth zooms around the sun counter-clockwise (see "You are here" icon on Earth's orbit, the blue circle). In March on the equinox, the earth is directly ahead of the sun on the sun's path for a moment of balance between night and day. This year, in 2019, the full moon was in the lineup, ahead of the sun, earth, and me.

Also, consider that moon at the Outer solstice in December was a full moon, too.
