On June 19, 2010, a one-day silent meditation retreat honored the solstice on June 21 at 6:28 a.m. CDT. I photographed sunrise and sunset from a local high point on the nearby days. Previously at the March Equinox, I did the same from the same location. It is the beach end of the boardwalk across Deer Lake State Park from the parking lot. Alternatives: Flash full-screen or QuickTime small or full-screen.
{Back to top of page}Day and night are at their greatest difference on a solstice. This is true for both the northern and southern hemispheres of earth. Local sunrise at approximately 5:44 a.m. Local sunset at approximately 7:50 p.m.
To see the movie on this page, you need Flash 9+. Update now. The more recent the version, the better the playing. See immersive imaging for help, info, and all other immersive imaging, including QuickTime and Flash movies, at Wholeo Online.
This is my entry in the World Wide Panorama event of June solstice, 2010. Here's the story.
