June Solstice 2010 Sunrise and Sunset panorama, QT

On June 19, 2010, a one-day silent meditation retreat honored the solstice on June 21 at 6:28 a.m. CDT. I photographed sunrise and sunset from a local high point on the nearby days. Previously at the March Equinox, I did the same from the same location. It is the beach end of the boardwalk across Deer Lake State Park from the parking lot. Alternatives: QuickTime full-screen or Flash small or full-screen.

Day and night are at their greatest difference on a solstice. This is true for both the northern and southern hemispheres of earth. Local sunrise at approximately 5:44 a.m. Local sunset at approximately 7:50 p.m.
