Mel Geary Memorial - "Being in a Movie"

In April, 2006, Mel didn't know he had cancer, or that he had little more than a year to live. In town to attend a baby shower for his unborn twin grandsons, he was helping fix his daughter's house. My camera reminded him of being in a movie where he forgot his lines. There was complete silence. This struck Mel as greatly funny. He said the movie makers told him to just be himself. He continues working as he tells this story. Mel accepts, enjoys, and laughs at himself.

The movie reverberates as Mel in the movie tells about being in a movie and is reflected in a mirror. There is a moment of silence as he recalls the previous movie's silence. Mel is being himself in this movie, following the advice of how to be in the previous movie. Transitioning through the rainbow colors of his latest paintings, the movie retraces his expressions.
