Anticipating how to adventure with the solar eclipse of 2017-08-21, I walked about on 8-17 at the same timeframe: 12-3PM. Some of these photos are of sufficiient interest, click to enlarge.
Sun is directly above head, slightly east of being aligned with the boardwalk to the Gulf.
Rest area by parking lot and entry to side walk south.
Looking north at rest room and space along fence to WaterSound. Note glaring washed-out sun-baked whites. HDR needed. Learn more about exposure. I think underexposing saves more detail (or it did in film).
Looking west at south end of parking lot and start to sidewalk. Remember to walk slower and move camera more slowly to preserve focus and detail.

Sidewalk
Closeup of leaf shadow patterns that might project crescents of eclipsed sunlight
Another closeup of leaf shadow patterns that might project crescents of eclipsed sunlight. These shadows aren't sharp. Will the crescents during eclipse be sharp?
Yet another closeup of leaf shadow patterns that might project crescents of eclipsed sunligh. This might be of interest as sidewalk darkens and crescents appear in leaf light play.
Next segment of sidewalk, sunny
Rounding curve, light and shadow
Same. Might need vertical shot so get nearby closeup, not so much repetitive foliage.
Straightaway to ramp. Lori territory?
Palmettos. See also 52. Palmettos again.
Ramp up to boardwalk
Ramp mid-section bend at angle
Closeup of shadows on ramp. Will both near (sharp) and far (diffused) long shadows work?

Boardwalk end, lookout to west, beyond the park, people and buildings on beach
Same as 36, slightly zoomed in
Dunes looking NE from boardwalk end
Reef line centered in Gulf waters
Boardwalk ramp to beach, shadow on the sand. Will this make eclipse crescent long shadows?
Ramp stairs, walkway, shadow of boards on sand
Looking east along shore
Looking N from ramp end
My shadow, head
My shadow, torso
N from ramp end. Note sun is slightly east, throwing shadows slightly west on boardwalk
Another view NE
Looking east from mid-boardwalk with large cloud, whipped top, over WaterSound
Mid boardwalk, looking N. Here's where video stopped, so lost the rest of the walk to the end back by the sidewalk. It was 30 minutes long
On ramp up from sidewalk, looking south, video 2. Photo I didn't get is the leaf shadows on the railing, also partly looking down at palmettos and other leaves with their shadows on the ground. Probably won't know until the time if this is a phenomenon. Remember to look. (I didn't remember on 8-21.) Compare with 52. Palmettos again.
Straight up, partial sun
Palmettos again. Compare with 14. Palmettos
Tree shadows on sidewalk
More tree shadows on sidewalk
Beauty berries to west of ramp up from sidewalk
Even more shadows on sidewalk. Starting to wonder which are the best shadows and what is the best distance for a camera to record video. {This is the area where I did photograph the crescents and hear the crickets song pause during part of the partial eclipse.)
Sun in tree tops. Instead of shadows on ground, any interest straight on? Or up, that is.
In car in parking lot pointed at sidewalk, looking west. Any interest in light on forest?
In car parked backed in by handicap reserved spot, looking at sidewalk entrance
