Flying over the Two Thumbs, non-JavaScript display

If you have JavaScript enabled and a browser such as Netscape 3.0 or higher, there are more choices on the JavaScript flying the thumbs page. You can click on previous or next buttons to navigate the slide show. Or you can choose auto-display.

To see the slides in order, click on the links below, one after another. An alternate page let's you click small thumbnail pictures instead of text.

These photos are on a trip up and over the Two Thumbs in a small plane that Laurie Prouting flew from Mesopotamia station on December 16, 1996. The first picture is from White Rock station, looking up the Rangitata Gorge road to Mesopotamia station. If the clouds did not cover the peaks, the Two Thumbs would be visible from here. The second picture is in the plane before takeoff. The helicopter is reflected in the windshield of the 5-seater plane. More details on what is to come. Enjoy the flight!
