Starting in May, 2003, I am a trained volunteer water quality tester for Eastern Lake North in the Choctawhatchee Bay Alliance (CBA) Coastal Dune Lakes monitoring program. It is part of the University of Florida LAKEWATCH program. LAKEWATCH sponsors a Calendar photo contest. In 2007, for the 2008 calendar, as a volunteer, I'm eligible to enter photos of my lake, which I list on the main calendar photo page. This one is an addition that probably isn't print quality.
On 2007-05-27 I accompanied the LAKEWATCH team of Skye, Mo, and Jason to map the lake bottom, get water samples, and take 10 stations of plant samples. We found a very green plant, an island of bright intense green, floating. It is Micranthemum umbrosum (baby-tears), a fairly common plant that LAKEWATCH found in several other lakes in the summer of 2007. Four frames from my video tell the story.
