Peter Elliot won the Leo Geary memorial trophy in January, 2005. He writes:
"I am 45 years old and have been flying for about two years. I've flown mainly in Hawkes Bay but have recently moved to Wellington to study Architecture so I imagine my flying will suffer, it already has in fact.
I've flown whenever I can and as hard as I can which means I was able to become quite a good pilot quite quickly. My biggest strength as a pilot is having a good sense of where thermal activity is, my biggest weakness is that I am far too impatient.
Sorry I don't have a pic of me with the trophy, I hope the pic I sent is ok - it's from the first day of the Wanaka festival this year and is of me not far from launch at Treble Cone."
