Christopher Pirsig made this rakusu in preparation for becoming a lay monk at the San Francisco Zen Center. It is a symbolic robe of buddha worn with the inscriptions facing into the heart.
The presence of the rakusu in the OwlGate sculpture evokes the memory of Christopher's rock still meditation.
