Camp Helen State Park - mixed plants 5

The zooming image above was photographed 2009-01-27 in Camp Helen State Park. The GPS coordinates are 30°16'15.80"N 85°59'32.50"W. Alternatively, a medium, or small image. I merged five photos to make this "wet lichen ".

On Dec. 5, 2008 I found a type of lichen that I had not seen before, tentatively identified as "resurrection cladonia" (Cladonia prostrata). On January 27, 2009 I returned to photograph it after rain. This plant opens its leaves when wet, exposing the green side. The composite of five images shows it growing with some other deer lichen. The resurrection cladonia is mostly green in this picture. The one tentatively identified as Cladonia evansii has an uncharacteristic pink tinge. See also this view when dry on 2009-01-30, with leaves curled up white.
