- Yolo Boarding - =
Yours truly, Caroling pumps up wings at the WaterColor butterfly garden in preparation, hoping for a dry ride on a YOLO board. It was too cold for a swim and I had never done stand-up paddling before. See the video for my success story.
- Gator Walk at Topsail State Park - Gator trip was gatorless although the ranger said many alligators live here. One 14-foot in Campbell Lake. Because the roads to Morris and Campbell Lake were still too muddy after recent rains, we rode and walked to NoName Lake where only one alligator lives, 7-feet long, probably female. Will come to investigate a visiting ranger sometimes. Need 70-degree water, otherwise will hibernate.
The ranger told many of his experiences in coming near alligators by surprise. He said that he could have been killed a few times. We walked past the "No Walking on Dunes" sign, with no explanation of why it was OK for us. It was fun to see friends and be out for dusk in Topsail. We watched the stars all the way back, walking in the dark.
