On January 25, 2009 I found another type of lichen that I had not seen before, tentatively identified as Cladonia ochrochlora. This image shows the most dense patch of it growing on the side of a bank.
This page (http://waynesword.palomar.edu/pljan98c.htm#ochrochlora1) shows a lichen like this. This page (http://bcbiodiversity.homestead.com/fruticoseclub.html) says Cladonia ochrochlora is similar to Cladonia coniocraea. It does look like a close match.
